Excellent facilities, but a serious room-allocation concern. My first two nights sharing with a woman were flawless. The next two nights, sharing a two-bed room with an unrelated man, were a completely different experience and felt unsafe. The hostel itself is impressive—the orange-tree courtyard, automated laundry facilities and TechnoGym equipment are close to five-star quality. However, a two-person mixed room is fundamentally different from a six-bed mixed dormitory, where there are other occupants and greater visibility and accountability. Being alone with a stranger significantly reduces privacy, security and the possibility of witnesses. This raises a legitimate safeguarding and legal-policy concern. For two-bed rooms, guests should ideally have the option of same-sex allocation, particularly for women, where practicable. This is not about discrimination; it is about proportionate risk management and guest safety. The facilities are excellent. The room-allocation policy needs reconsideration.
This hotel is very old; it used to be a monastery and, over the years, it was also transformed into a shelter for single mothers. From the outside, it does not look particularly impressive, but considering its history, I believe it deserves a chance. The inner courtyards are very beautiful. The rooms are not necessarily luxurious; I would say they have a rather monastic atmosphere. They are very basic and simple. However, considering the history of the building, which also functions as a hostel, I think it was very difficult to create more modern rooms. You can choose rooms with a private bathroom and toilet, or, I assume, cheaper rooms with shared bathrooms and showers in the hallway. The breakfast is simple, but you definitely won’t go hungry. The indoor area where breakfast is served is nothing particularly special, but you can also have breakfast outside on the terraces. There are several terraces, and they are very beautiful. One of the best things about this hotel is its location. It is very close to the vaporetto stop, only about a 5-minute walk away. The vaporetto takes you towards the airport, and from the hotel’s stop it is only two or three stops to the airport, which is extremely convenient. Another great advantage is that the hotel is located right next to a canal. When you come to Venice and want to experience the city, I think staying near a canal is part of the charm. That is exactly what we wanted, and that is what we had. The canals do not smell bad, despite what many people say — that they avoid Venice because the canal water supposedly smells unpleasant. This is simply not true. There is no bad smell at all. In some places, you may notice a slight smell of fish, but that is all. We had a very beautiful view from our room overlooking the canal. It is Venice — it is something completely different.
Outstanding value! If you're traveling as a family their family apartments can't be beat. Beautiful courtyard, good bars, solid breakfast in a quiet yet accessible part of Venice.
Excellent place to stay in Venice, especially for longer trips. I was here for 2.5 weeks as part of a study abroad program, and the rooms and amenities are excellent. Fabulous breakfast buffet with ample social spaces. Wonderful home base for a group traveling together!
We had a fantastic stay! The place was spotless, the bed was comfy, and the canal views (from the upstairs suite) were lovely. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was great, just a short walk to the vaporetto stop, making it easy to explore Murano and Burano. We also didn't have too far to go to get to Piazza San Marco – about 30 minutes on foot. One tiny suggestion: the rooms could use a bit more decoration – they're a bit plain and could benefit from a bit more personality.
