We spent three nights here this past weekend. It's an older building, however it does have charm. Be prepared for stairs, which they warn you about! We had the room for four on the upper floor with a private bathroom. I would highly recommend you get the private bathroom, especially if you're traveling with kids. The place is definitely older, but it has everything you need, and it's in a great location near the Piazza San Marco. You're a block from the luxury stores, a five minute walk from the Rialto Bridge. My only complaint, there is no breakfast buffet. I asked when we checked in, and I was told they only have free coffee (limited time frame). That would be fine, except their website explicitly says "Breakfast Buffet" and I assumed we would get what was advertised. So, their site needs to be updated or they need to have food besides just coffee. Traveling with two kids, this was disappointing that we had to go find food, when we thought it was included (as per their site when we reserved the room - and it's still listed on the site).
The hotel has a convenient location and the environment is quiet, which I appreciated. However, there are several limitations to be aware of. Staff are only available from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., so support outside those hours is very limited. The Wi-Fi reception was poor and unreliable, and the hot water was only lukewarm at best. Given the relatively low price, the stay was acceptable, but overall it did not meet my expectations and I would not choose to stay here again.
Including some pictures of the main gate as it was difficult to find the main gate. The google maps shows here but there’s no signage of the hotel name at all. It was only the next morning that we realised there is a tiny name but the metal plate is slightly flipped so it’s difficult to see. Overall the room is ok, but the hotel is on level 3 of the building with no elevators. It is rather safe and there is free coffee at 8.30am on the terrace.
I’m giving this place the highest rating because it met absolutely all of our needs. It’s not a 4- or 5-star hotel, but within its price range, it truly stands out compared to other options in the area. The building itself is old, with thin walls. At first, the entrance on the ground floor looked quite scary, but later we realized that due to Venice’s frequent flooding, the owner probably chooses not to invest in renovations on the ground floor — which actually makes perfect sense. Our room was fairly spacious, with a large bed and an additional smaller one on the side. It looked clean, and the bedding was changed daily. The room had everything we needed — a wardrobe, safe, fridge, and electric kettle with tea. The bathroom was equipped with a shower, toilet, mirror, and hairdryer. The staff at the reception were very friendly and available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our room was on the third floor, overlooking a nearby building and a lively street below. On the fourth floor, there was a coffee machine, tables, and a terrace. The biggest advantage of this place is definitely its location — just a few steps from St. Mark’s Square, so everything was within walking distance. The only possible downside is that there’s no elevator, which might be challenging for older guests or those with small children when carrying luggage to the third floor. Overall, we highly recommend this place!
