We were very nervous coming after reading the recent reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The room was exactly what is pictured. We had an adorable view out of the window. It was hot when we first got there but you just need to leave a card (any card) in the slot and the AC worked fine. Hot water worked great and plenty of water pressure. Location was awesome! Sure, it smelled fishy OUTSIDE the hotel but we didn't mind that at all. What we were happiest about was they emailed us the day before you know when we would be there and I asked if they could leave a note for my son who had just graduated, not knowing if they really would. They definitely did and he felt special what was above my expectations. Is it a 5 star hotel? No. But they don't claim to be. It is exactly as pictured and we are grateful.

Terrific location next to the market. Be aware if you are a light sleeper, the market starts setting up at 6 AM or earlier. Fun and safe neighborhood with lots of dinner options. We found the rooms to be very clean, the bed and pillows to be perfectly acceptable. We found it an excellent value. As mentioned in other reviews, staff was almost nonexistent. At the same time, the staff we did meet and work with were friendly and helpful. We were in the top room with a great view of a canal and that is on the fourth floor. Stairway is very very old and steps are very loud, so trying to be quiet for your neighbors is impossible.

Rooms are very old. The hotel is very noisy impossible to have a good sleep specially if you are in room 7. Towels were dirty of blood and the minibar never got refilled. Also air conditioning is not working. Full of mosquitoes. The only good thing is the location…

Wow, did we spend a rough couple of nights here. Let’s start with service - we saw the staff once in our two days there, and it was only at check out. The rest of the days, we would pass by in the AM around 9am, evening around 6pm, or afternoon around 3pm and there was no one there. Only a sign that someone would be returning in 10 minutes. Second, communication was terrible. They didn’t tell us that the AC was set to heating and that it was going to be spitting out hot scalding air no matter what we did. This led us to have to sleep with the windows open so we would be able to even breathe through the night - because the AC heater air was that hot. Now, we’re in Venice, which means water, which equals to LOTS OF MOSQUITOES. Because we had to sleep with the windows open, we woke up with mosquito bites all over. When we checked out, the staff told us that they knew about the problem, thus they had “conveniently” left a plug in to repel mosquitoes… hidden away… in a cabinet. Again, communication, we would have never known to use that, because no one from the staff told us, and we didn’t even know where to look or what that would have been for. Last but not least: the bed. We booked a room with a queen bed, but nope, we got two twin beds stuck together to make it seem like a queen bed. This led to the beds moving through the night and us waking up in the middle part with back pain. Also, the pillows that they give you are razor thin so you also wake up with neck pain. Perfect to take the day exploring a new city, am I right? I do have to say that the area is quiet at least, and close enough to the main center. It was also clean. However, we are so stiff, mosquito bitten and sleep deprived that I wouldn’t with my sound mind recommend this place for your stay in Venice.
