Our stay was fantastic. The staff were kind and helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable with very capable AC (very welcome in this Summer’s heat wave), and breakfast was delicious. Definitely be aware of the stairs if you have mobility challenges but they should be quite manageable otherwise. The location is very convenient just steps from the Rialto Mercato. Highly recommended!

stayed at the hotel for three nights and had a great experience!! the only downside of the hotel is that since it’s an old building, there can’t be an elevator, but the walk up the stairs was well worth it! the furnishing was pretty, the air conditioning was nice , and the staff was exceptional. we had no complaints in our time here, and i would definitely want to stay here if i get the chance to come back!

Best most convenient location close to water taxi so easy with luggage. The kindest most accommodating staff! Great breakfast and lovely rooms. I have nothing bad to say and would stay there every time I'm in Venice. Best value hotel, but mostly because of the kind people!

We have stayed at Pensione Guerrato several times and loved it, but this first visit under new ownership was a disappointment. Check-in was unwelcoming — we didn't get our room until 2:40 PM, past the stated 2:00 PM check-in time. The daytime front desk staff had a dismissive manner that did little to make us feel welcome, which set an unfortunate tone for the stay. The room had several issues: an uncomfortable bed, slippery floors, a bathroom that smelled unpleasant, and a dusty heated towel rack that took two days and multiple requests to get working (instructions in the room would help). There were no luggage racks at all, which is particularly frustrating given a sign at reception asking guests not to place bags on the beds for hygiene reasons — well then, where exactly are we supposed to put them? A previously accessible internal staircase connecting the floors is now locked off, forcing guests not on the second floor to use the steeper external stairs to the additional 2 floors — an issue for anyone with mobility difficulties or heavy luggage. We were also greeted on arrival by a small dog belonging to staff or possibly the owner, loose in the entrance area. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and some guests may have allergies. Breakfast was decent but is now served in assigned time slots with no flexibility. On the plus side, housekeeping and evening staff were kind and helpful, and we appreciated the security cameras. Pensione Guerrato was once our favourite hotel in Venice and we returned loyally over the years. Sadly, it was also the least enjoyable accommodation of our three-week trip across Europe — and the drop in standards means we won't be coming back.
