The best food we had in Venice! The pork shank was less than €20 and was HUGE and delicious! We sat right on the water front with a bottle of Prosecco and it was the things dreams are made of.
Al Parlamento is one of those places that genuinely surprises you, especially considering how close it is to Venice Santa Lucia train station. It’s just about a 5-minute walk and also very close to the Ca’ Foscari university area. At first, it might look like a regular bar, but it’s actually much more than that. It works really well at any time of the day. You can come here for breakfast, grab a quick snack, enjoy an aperitivo, or even sit down for lunch or dinner. The menu is wider than you would expect, with options like piadine, toast, and Italian-style first courses. What really stood out to me is the food quality. We tried toast, piadine, and some snacks, and everything was genuinely excellent. Not just “good for a bar”, but actually on the level of a proper restaurant. That’s not something you always find in places like this. They also serve traditional Venetian cicchetti. These are small bites, often served on bread or with simple ingredients, and they’re perfect to pair with a drink. They were very well prepared and definitely worth trying if you want a more local experience. The space itself is very well designed. Inside, it has a modern look but still feels warm and welcoming, not cold or too minimal. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, which is great depending on the moment. I also noticed power outlets, which is a big plus, especially if you need to charge your phone or laptop. There might also be Wi-Fi available. The staff really deserves a mention. They are young, friendly, and genuinely kind. What impressed me the most was how they treated a regular elderly customer. They knew her by name and interacted with her in a very warm and respectful way. That kind of atmosphere is not something you can fake. If I had to point out one small thing, it would be the lighting in the bathrooms. They are clean, but a bit too dim. Overall, this is a place that truly deserves recognition. Whether you are a student, a traveler, or just looking for a nice spot in Venice to relax, eat well, or enjoy a drink, Al Parlamento is absolutely worth a visit.
