Reviews
Bacaro Basego was a great find in Castello rione in Venice. It's close enough to the main tourist area to be convenient, but far enough away to feel much calmer and more authentic. We stopped for a selection of cicchetti on fresh bread, the menu is intentionally limited, it's a traditional veniatian bacaro that focus on cicchetti rather than full restaurant meals, and everything was delicious. It's the perfect place to slow down, enjoy a glass of wine or a spritz, an aperitivo or just a pause while sampling traditional Venetian snacks. What really made the experience special was the owner. She was very welcoming, genuinely friendly, and happy to chat about Venice, the food, and local traditions. Those personal interactions are what make traveling memorable. One piece of advice for Turists... never ask capuccino with seafood! (see the picture) That gave us a good laugh. If you're looking for a relaxed bacaro with great cicchetti, a warm atmosphere, and wonderful hospitality, Bacaro Basego is definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful stop for some spritz and cicchetti! Thank you to the lovely lady that explained all the options to us! It was hard to pick because everything looked delicious! This is where I first tried a Select Spritz and my husband tried a Cynar Spritz. We loved them and order a few! The drink prices are great here. Not a tourist trap at all! Great atmosphere on the patio! Get there early because by the time we left all tables were taken. It was so nice to sit outside and soak in all the magic of Venice! (Away from the crowded tourist areas) Highly recommend stopping here for cicchetti and then walk to Trattoria Dai Fioi for some amazing pizza!
Very simple concept: you order your wine or cocktails, pick your cicchetti from the bar, and you’re set. The whole experience is straightforward and relaxed. We really enjoyed this cozy spot and definitely think it’s worth a visit.
Loved Basegó! Such a great cichetti spot — delicious food, good cocktails, and very fair prices. We ended up coming here our whole stay because we loved it so much. The people working there are the sweetest. 100% recommend!
These cicchetti were some of the best my husband and I had in Venice! They were very fresh and delicious. The lady that served us was very friendly and helpful. I loved the bacalau cicchetti the best, while my husband enjoyed the salami one the best. The drinks were good too and the vibe was very relaxed.
