Description
An exclusive photography workshop (maximum 6 people) in the heart of the Venice Carnival.
The promise
You will have 24 frames to tell the story of the Venice Carnival. Each shot will have weight, anticipation, and a conscious choice: no bursts, no shots thrown away. In 4 hours, with a small group of no more than 6 people, I will guide you to the light, the details, and the moments that make the Carnival an authentic experience to be lived, even before it is photographed.
The Experience: 24 shots, each with its own weight.
Whether you bring an SLR, a mirrorless camera, or your smartphone, there's only one rule: 24 shots throughout the workshop. You mark each shot in your personal notebook, writing next to it why you chose that particular moment: your Carnival diary. If you use your smartphone, you'll also use an app that simulates an old film roll, limiting the shots to 24 frames. In both cases, every frame really counts, and no shot is ever a coincidence.
You will learn to observe calmly before taking a shot: to read a mask before photographing it, to recognize the gaze behind the lace veil, the texture of a 19th-century Bauta, the moment when a costume moves an instant before the person turns towards you.
We will walk among hidden little squares and secondary bridges, chasing the warm light of the Venetian afternoon as the Carnival slowly fades into the evening. We will seek out the true stories of Venice: an elderly seamstress adjusting a costume, the contrast between bright colors and gray stone, a masked figure stopping to look at the water.
I'll review your shots with you on the spot. If more time is needed to find the right photo to print, the review continues at home until you find the frame you deserve to take with you forever.
Because the number 6 makes all the difference
A group of no more than 6 participants means that for four hours you will have my full attention, always by your side, ready to look at your screen, correct your framing, and point out that light that was about to escape you. I will adapt with a tailor-made attention tailored to your way of seeing the world, whether you shoot in RAW with a mirrorless camera or through the lens of your smartphone.
Practical Details
Duration: 4 hours, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Meeting point: Campo Santa Margherita, near the capital
Group: Maximum of 6 people.
Required level: You already know how to take pictures, but you feel you have lost the poetry of the shot.
What to bring: Camera or smartphone (with the recommended app downloaded in advance; I will send you the instructions beforehand), comfortable shoes, and a desire to see Venice with new eyes.
