Description
This is a sightseeing experience where, walking across an unforgettable skyline, I will accompany you to one very old and typical Venetian “osteria” (restaurant) where you can taste the lagoon's seafood cuisine!
Of course, bring your camera due going there you will have the opportunity to see the splendours of Venice by night: enjoying gorgeous squares, places, churches and monuments, but also I'm pretty sure that you will sure understand what is for us, the last Venetians, the real millenary masterpiece of this city and how our traditions and life-styles are still going to survive just hidden behind the most crowded city places; discovering this city for what it really is for us!
You will see our Cannaregio and Jewish Ghetto districts where live the most of the last 50.000 Venetians, still living our strange 'waterlife' like many centuries ago. During the way, as native trueborn venetian, I will of course introduce to you the best traditional and important things and places that you visit in Venice during your stay here, like where we build our gondolas, the most beautiful lagoon's islands to see plus gastronomy's suggestions like where to taste their typical “venetian-kosher” cuisine in our Jewish Ghetto and a lot of more ;)
(I have to show our “lost paradise area”, located in Cannaregio, where the most where residents enjoy our “Appetizer” and “nightlife” time!
After me, you will know that Venice it is not just “the Rialto bridge and St. Mark’s square”..)
With me You will see one of the last five Gondola’s factories here, which family still make our Carnival’s clothes and a lot of more…most important thing: you will discover that it’s not true that Venice it’s a very expensive city: just stay where locals live… ;)
I'm pretty sure you will love our 'local area' and its unbeatable atmosphere!
Please note that we have to walk through from 6.30 to 8pm more or less.
Starting from our meeting point located in Fondamente Nuove and then going to the 'osteria', in the end, everyone will be free to decide what to do: if you won’t be tired I really suggest to stay with me due the last thing to do could be an unforgettable “social time” in one of the best Venice’s Osteria, where you can try a lot of different and delicious “cikketti” or various typologies of daily fishes/food and of course, local wine and Prosecco made in the Venice Land!
(Dinner is not included and start from '15euros couple-sharing', but for sure you can eat how much you wish. At most I always suggest appetizer + first course or appetizer + second course, but no more: in a trattoria they materially make you 'explode on the wall')
A full immersion inside the Venetian culture and life style that will be the best way to see and understand which is the strange combination to live here surrounded by two totally different perspectives of life: the touristic and the local one ;)
We are the last Venetians, be ready to see things that no one will see again!
Includes
At the end of the tour: You can decide between different types of aperitivo
1) Spritz
2) White wine
3) Prosecco
4) Coca-Cola
5) Water ( Nat/Sp.)
The spritz is made with local white wines of Veneto: Pinot Grigio, Soave, or Prosecco. The bitter liqueur could be Aperol, Gran Classico, Select, Campari or Cynar. If you are in Venice and you ask for a spritz without specifying the bitter, you'll most likely be served a spritz with Select
Prosecco is a specific type of sparkling wine from the Valdobbiadene region of Veneto in the Northeast of Italy. It is a so-called D.O.C (G) white wine - with D.O.C (G) standing for 'Denominazione di origine controllata'. Translated into English, this means it is a product with a controlled (and guaranteed) designation of origin. And actually, there are various types of Prosecco, as it comes in different styles, sweetness levels, quality grades, and different degrees of carbonation. In fact, Prosecco is available with no carbonation at all
Excludes
Also at the end of the experience there will be the optional, non-mandatory dinner at the 'Osteria Casa Bonita', where those who wish will be able to taste delicious dishes of local lagoon seafood in good company :)
In a city where on the water, seafood definitely dominates the menu. Traditional Venice food is heavily influenced by the bounty of the lagoon with seafood featuring heavily, enhanced by vegetables grown on surrounding islands such as asparagus and artichokes.
Venice has a distinguished culinary history, based on its unique position on the Sea and, to a lesser degree, its cosmopolitan past as the hub of a trading empire.
Venetian trading posts in the Levant gave the city access to exotic spices. Due to later conquests of Venice from the end of the 18th century, these exotic ingredients are enriched with a dash of Austrian cuisine.
The price of the fish dinner starts from 10 euros per person.
