Description
The Ellegi Murano glass factory has operated for approximately 600 years, passing down techniques through generations without formal schooling. Located just steps from the Faro boat stop and near the Glass Museum and Basilica of Santa Maria e San Donato, it is easily reachable by foot or private water taxi via its private pier. The facility offers barrier-free access for all visitors.
Visitors can explore both the glass factory and the original shop, where authentic handmade pieces are available for purchase. Admission is free for children under 15, and pets are welcome.
The main attraction is the live glass-processing demonstration, showcasing artistic glassware production. The 20-minute session features hot glass extraction and shaping techniques, thoroughly explained in the visitor’s preferred language. This detailed insight appeals to visitors of all ages.
