Description
Starting from a central meeting point, the tour begins with a walk through the elegant Castello district, including Santa Maria Formosa Square and the Saints Giovanni and Paolo Square. You will see the church resting place of several Doges and the equestrian monument of Bartolomeo Colleoni, as well as the former residence of Marco Polo.
Returning to Saint Mark’s Square, you enter the Doge’s Palace to explore the halls where the Doge and council governed the Serene Republic, surrounded by Renaissance art masterpieces, including Tintoretto’s largest oil painting. Then, cross the Bridge of Sighs to reach the new prisons.
The tour continues inside Saint Mark’s Basilica, the former private chapel of the Doge, where you can sit in the central nave to listen to detailed biblical scene commentary. This tour holds exclusive authorization for seated visits inside the Basilica.
The tour concludes outside Saint Mark’s Basilica, with the opportunity to visit the Correr Museum independently using the included ticket.
