This old-fashioned looking bacaro is down a side street near Rialto Market. It’s cool and dim inside with lots of dark wood and an impressive collection of copper pots hanging from the ceiling; a friendly staff member tells us they were once used for carrying water. The array of cicchetti is impressive too, including baccalà many different ways, and good options for wine by the glass. No tables, but it’s the perfect spot for a quick snack at a counter against the wall or perched on one of the few stools out front.
We found this hidden gem and cooled off with some chilled white wine. The staff were very friendly and spoke English, its truly authentic and known as Venice's most historic wine bars!
I mainly went here because I saw it on No Reservations and thought it looked interesting. It’s near the touristy part of Venice, but it is a bit away from anything. It was crowded but people were moving, so you could find seating. The person helped me pick which cichetti (like tapas) were good and I also had the house wine. It was a bit pricey, but I enjoyed everything I ate and loved the atmosphere
We happened to walk into this spot and saw they had barolos by the glass so we decided to stop in for cicchetti. We loved how simple and unassuming this place was. Very friendly service and decent food. Loved the wine.
The cicchetti looked really good on this bar, but due to some of my allergies, I couldn't have many of them and I'm also indecesive, so I took a bit of time to decide and I feel like the staff didn't like it. They were looking at me and my partner and pointing at us with the head while talking in Italian to themselves, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable to be honest. The food was good though, and so it was the wine. The place looks like a cozy wine traditional place. I think this was a bit pricier than other places for food, the portions were quite small. The cheese was fantastic.
