Description

The Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice offers a captivating journey through the evolution of art. You will discover the art from the 14th to the 16th century beginning with the Gothic period: You will encounter works characterised by rich colours and religious themes, such as the 'Polittico Lion' by Lorenzo Veneziano. Transitioning into the Renaissance, masterpieces by Bellini, Giorgione and Titian showcase the shift towards realism, perspective and humanism. You will admire the 'Pala di San Giobbe' by Bellini, 'La Madonna dell'Arancio' by Cima da Conegliano and the narrative painting of 'Tenthousand martyrs of mount Ararat' by Carpaccio before aweing at some of the most famous artworks by Veronese and Tintoretto: 'Feast in the House Levi' and the 'Miracle of the Slave'. Participating in a treasure hunt you will discover how art developed and how Venetian painters distinguished themselves from other Renaissance painters. Hear why the Inquisition laid eyes upon Veronese and his awe inspiring painting 'Feast in house Levi' and find out who the mysterious man is that shows up in two of Tintoretto's paintings.
