One of my favourite dining experiences in Veneto - and the 3-course Fa'ti set menu with paired wines at this relaxed, engaging, delicious restaurant proves you don’t have to spend a fortune to dine very well in Venice. Andrea Lorenzon is a fabulous host and, as with all members of the Osti in Orto project, incredibly passionate about the produce they grow on Sant’Erasmo. Pinzimonio (raw vegetables) from the garden is a great showcase for seasonal produce and I loved the linguini with cavolo nero pesto, almonds and bottarga as well as the tiny little flavour-packed oysters. Delicious, interesting wine matches too. Highly recommend the chef's table if you're a group. After dinner ask Andrea or one of his staff to show you the red stone (pietra rossa) for which the restaurant is named and tell you its fascinating history.

My husband and I ate at Pietra Rossa on one of our six nights in Venice, and the meal was my favorite dining experience in the city. The staff is warm, welcoming, and professional; and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. The food is superb, and we appreciated the focus on local, seasonal ingredients and natural wines. The dishes are creative, yet approachable, and most importantly, everything is delicious. Located on a quiet street, not far from the tourist center, Pietra Rossa provides an opportunity to experience authentic Venice.

An intimate restaurant founded and run by Andrea. The place is modest in footprint but grand in spirit and generosity. The food is exquisite and innovative yet grounded. The picture below is a delicious red bell pepper stuffed with anchovies and capers and soaked in a beautiful olive oil, served as a side to the pasta. Many dishes use the restaurant’s own vegetable garden, infusing a super-fresh beautiful taste.

We had a wonderful evening returning to Pietra Rossa after a two year absence. Sitting in the courtyard on a warm Venice evening created the perfect setting for a relaxed and memorable meal. We shared the Fa’ti tasting menu, which showcased a thoughtful approach to both flavour and presentation. Every course felt carefully considered without being overcomplicated. The wines were excellent and complemented the food perfectly. Service was friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. What stood out most was how effortlessly everything came together: outstanding food, great wine, a lovely atmosphere, and a setting that encouraged you to slow down and enjoy the experience. Pietra Rossa has become our favourite eating place in Venice. We will be back…

First of all, I feel the need to contradict several of the negative reviews. We saw this as a high level dining experience. The host, Andrea, was not pretentious to us. We took his approach to a be a passion for food and wine which he wants to share with his guests. This was an exquisite dining experience. We found Andrea friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I asked him to choose a wine for us which would pair well with our meal. He sat down next to us and explained his choice in detail before we committed to the purchase. He was spot-on with his recommendation. We chose the Fa’Ti menu which was three courses chosen by the restaurant. Each course hit its mark exactly, coupling flavor, texture, and presentation perfectly. We forgot to take pictures of the second course because we were overcome by the taste of the starter and dove into the pasta. On the way out I stopped to tell Andrea that we would probably return to Venezia just to eat at his restaurant (we live in Texas) and I hope he realizes that we are serious. That shows much we enjoyed our meal. If you can appreciate a high-quality meal with flavors and textures carefully matched, using locally-sourced and sustainable ingredients, while paying a commensurate price, then this is the place for you.
