I always try to grab a spot by the window when the sun is setting,it turns those centuries-old buildings into gold. And if you’re up for it, jump off at Burano to explore its bright houses and eat cicchetti before catching the next ferry back.

Pro tip: buy a day pass for the vaporetto lines. It saves a ton if you want to hop on and off and snoop around different islands. Also, avoid the midday ferries in August unless you’re keen on packed boats with tourists. Early mornings or late afternoons are much calmer. For a different angle, try Route 12,it's less touristy and offers cool views of the industrial docks and Lido beaches. Venice’s ferry network is the best way to feel the city’s pulse from the water, honestly.
