The most friendly staff! They were all so gracious and we were lucky enough to have a seat by the canal. Amazing food and drinks, the best place in Venice. Wow! Thank you to everyone who made our dinner so special!
We came to Al Vecio Forno on the recommendation of another friendly restaurant, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay in Venice. If you are looking for delicious food that awakens the senses, surprising flavor combinations, and something truly special beyond the ordinary tourist experience, this is the place to visit. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, combining simplicity with authentic Venetian character. Please do not change! What we loved most was the atmosphere – warm, family-friendly, relaxed, and completely unpretentious. Dining in a narrow, charming alley by the canal creates a truly magical Venetian setting that you simply cannot find everywhere. Special thanks to Erikson! The service was absolutely top-notch: friendly, attentive, communicative, and genuinely welcoming. The staff’s passion and kindness add an extra layer of flavor to the entire experience. One of the greatest pleasures was the generous, heartfelt portion sizes. Each dish arrived as if it carried a message from the kitchen: “This is Venice. We serve not only a dish but whole celebration of taste, view and atmosphere.” Every bite reflected craftsmanship, tradition, and a deep love for the ingredients, transforming a simple meal into a memorable culinary experience Grazie mille! 🇮🇹❤️
We walked into this restaurant by accident thinking it was the one we had reservations for and it turned out to be a wonderful mistake! The staff were super friendly, joyful and made us feel like family and right at home. The food was delicious and the atmosphere wonderful. Highly recommend! Thank you to all of you at Al Vecio Forno for a wonderful dinner and lifetime memory!
This was a disappointment. I read reviews and was expecting the service to be friendly but to our surprise it was the least friendly place we have been on the trip. We were pointed to our table to sit and did not get our drinks till 20 min later. Other patrons that came later got the bread and water right away. I am not sure what we did. We had to ask for the Bread too. To top it off the food is nothing special. It’s not bad but the reviews that rave about the best meal on trip is false. The fried seafood was sad for me cuz I was expected better variety and nicer portion of fried veggies and got so little. Lots of calamari rings if that’s what u like. Pic is deceiving. The seafood pasta is ok. Honestly would not recommend. Fruttera Mista 6/10 ok I’m sure to get a better version elsewhere Tagliatelle con ragú 7/10 ok I like more Al dente it is softer and the sauce is more of what we are use to in us so very safe dish Scialatiella with seafood 7/10 the shellfish is nicely presented but it was slightly overcooked and the flavor is one dimension.
Modern and tastefully decorated indoor seatings. Location: I see other pictures suggested that the location was by the water with canel view. The night we visited, we didn't really have that option. The restaurant was by a foot bridge. There are two tables at the canel side. But they were not lit up. Perhaps the interior was not full, or it was too cold? Food was really really good. We loved all the pasta dishes. The appetizer was interesting. Service was professional and friendly.
