Lovely garden, easy service, disappointing food. It is self-service, fine, but they could take better care of the queuing system that can become messy and a tad upsetting. I had the fried fish, it was dry, hard and the portion small. Meh
We ordered 2 ice cream cups, one mint and one chocolate. They put them in different containers "just because" and charged us 1 extra euro for no reason. Scam.
Very nice seafood selection. Also plenty vegan or vegetarian options. 20 euros for beer and selection of different fritted seafood. Torcello is a very sweet island.
Had lunch here with some friends of mine some weekends ago. I've been wanting to visit this place for so long I genuinely couldn't believe it when we arrived in Torcello. We got there around 3PM so unfortunately many options were over already, like moeche. I will come back to try moeche. That said, there were some rude customers lining up behind us who tried to skip the line and complain about us in Spanish, a pity I understand spanish :) but I do understand that does not depend on the waiters or any person that works at Taverna Tipica Veneziana. The food was good, I got the fritto misto e polenta + risotto alla buranella set. The risotto was delicious, genuinely I loved it, but the frittura was smaller than I expected and much space on the plate was taken by the fried polenta, not the fried fish 😭 I would personally change that, and also your tiramisu recipe. I got the amaretto tiramisu, and using whipped cream instead of mascarpone is truly sacrilegious, or maybe you could specify that so that people who don't like whipped cream are aware of this before ordering? Anyway great location to spend a day with friends :)
Really liked this outdoor cafe we found for lunch after our Burgano walk-about. It's self serve, go to the counter, order your food, pay (cash only) they give you a buzzer. Food was pretty good, we both had pizza folded over and grilled, with the most delicious potato crisps. Reasonable prices. Weren't really sure what we were getting, as none of the staff spoke English. Also, their cash drawer was broken so a wait to complete the transaction and get our food. But a lovely outdoor area with picnic and 4 seat tables, surrounded by grape vines and farm fields.
