We popped in at lunchtime to book a table for the evening, but they didn't have any suitable availability, so we stayed for lunch instead. Absolutely wonderful experience. The service was warm and friendly, and the food was delicious. Grazie Mille!! 🙏
A charming and authentic spot on Giudecca that perfectly reflects the quieter, more relaxed side of Venice. Sitting outside is highly recommended—the setting is calm, with a pleasant, local atmosphere that feels far removed from the crowds of the main island. The experience here is less about spectacle and more about understated quality. It captures the essence of Giudecca: unhurried, genuine, and comfortably traditional. Ideal if you want to step away from the hectic pace of central Venice and enjoy a more laid-back, local dining experience. Easy to recommend.
A truly exceptional experience. We visited from London as a group of 3 work colleagues and friends. The concierge at the Hilton Molino Stucky recommended the restaurant. It is tucked away from the tourist areas but definitely worth seeking it out. 5 generations of owners makes it one of the most established family restaurants in the entire city. A husband and wife duo with one running the kitchen and one running front of house make the perfect combination. Food and Service truly excellent.
Excellent service from the moment we arrived. As an Asian guest, I felt very welcomed, so I am honestly not sure where the comments about racist staff came from in other reviews. Our experience was the complete opposite. This dinner turned out to be a real culinary highlight for my wife and me. The standout dish of the night was the paccheri with tuna. It genuinely blew my mind because the flavor felt so familiar, almost like a classic bolognese but entirely made with tuna. Such a creative and delicious dish. The tiramisu was also fantastic and a perfect way to end the meal. We loved the restaurant’s interior as well. It is cozy and charming, tucked away in the quiet back alleys of Giudecca. Overall, a very pleasant surprise and a memorable dining experience.
What a delightful night we had at Trattoria Altanella! Alessandro was a wonderful server and told us his family has owned the restaurant for 5 generations. We had an incredible Spaghetti a le Vongole, fried cod, gnocchi, and scallops. Can’t recommend this place enough and would love to visit again some day. Absolutely sublime.
