We had a lovely meal here, a very busy restaurant just minutes after they start lunch service at 12noon, but our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived promptly. The sardines in onions were delicious, so was the gnocchi and tuna. Highly recommend this restaurant. They do not accept reservations, so come early.
Absolute gem in Burano. Enjoyed gnocchi with tuna and linguine with clams. Tried sbrisolona for dessert for the first time on server's recommendation. Fantastic! Great staff and location for people watching.
Walked in here after browsing the island for a bit and we were able to get a table for 6 with no wait. Bread and a variety of crackers were brought as well as a small amount of butter at our request. I ordered a Hugo Spritz and the grilled sea bass. The Hugo Spritz was awful, the seltzer was flat and it was way too sweet, I would recommend getting an Aperol or glass of wine instead. The sea bass was delicious very good flavor and a good amount of meat once I picked everything off the bones, they do not offer to do it for you like some other restaurants I have visited in Italy. Overall everyone at my table enjoyed their meal, all the pasta was cooked well and had good flavor to the seafood. Would recommend as a good alternative to Trattoria Al Gatto Nero if you cannot get a reservation there.
Osteria Al Fureghin is a true Venetian gem, the kind of place that reminds you why simple, well-executed food matters more than long menus. Cozy, welcoming, and proudly local, this osteria focuses on freshness and honest flavors—and it shows in every dish. The meal started strong with scallops in garlic sauce, perfectly cooked and fragrant, letting the natural sweetness of the scallops shine without being overpowered. The sardines Venetian style (sarde in saor) were excellent—sweet, sour, and deeply traditional, a textbook example of a classic done right. A real highlight was the sea bream, an off-menu fresh catch recommended by the staff. Simply prepared, incredibly fresh, and cooked with confidence, it was one of those dishes that speaks for itself and rewards those who trust the daily catch. The black ink pasta was rich, briny, and beautifully balanced, with the squid ink adding depth without heaviness. It felt authentically Venetian and satisfying to the last bite. Dessert sealed the experience with a tiramisu that was light, creamy, and not overly sweet—an ideal ending to a seafood-focused meal.
A delightful surprise! We took the staff's recommendation and tried the prawns, which were incredibly fresh and delicious. We were so impressed by their honesty, as they served us three oysters for the price of two just because one was small. Truly a gem of a restaurant!
