Our great return to Venice had to start with the best experience, and what to say for sure I mean food. Our lunch at Rio Novo was that, great! We had vino bianco de la casa, to start: grilled scallops and main meals, two pastas: a la Venezia nero di sepia and shrimps. The service is super friendly and attentive, food orders accurate and timely. And what to say for the atmosphere, only Venice can give you this feeling. I definetely recommend Rio Novo for lunch. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with a beautiful location right next to the canal. It was very busy when we visited, which is always a good sign, but the service was still excellent. The staff were kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Most importantly, the food was absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious, and full of flavour. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.
On our recent trip to Venice, we stumbled upon Rio Novo, and it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our entire vacation. We started our meal with the scallops and the seafood risotto, which turned out to be an absolute revelation. I have never been a fan of mussels or clams, but the seafood risotto here completely changed my mind. It was incredibly fresh, deeply flavorful, and the rice was cooked to absolute perfection. For our main courses, we went with the spaghetti alla busara and the shrimp scampi. Both dishes were masterful; the balance of flavors was so spot-on that we found ourselves eating slowly just to savor every single bite. You can tell the kitchen takes immense pride in their ingredients and execution. To top it all off, the service was completely on point—attentive, welcoming, and timed perfectly throughout the night. Finding a restaurant where both the food and the hospitality hit such a high mark is rare, and Rio Novo is officially locked in as our absolute go-to spot for our next visit to Venice.
Risotto di Pesce: Really, really good marinated rice mixed with mussels, octopi, etc. Very flavorful. Spaghetti alla Busara: Also really good! Comes with scampi, which is a big prawn. Seafood platter: Great appetizer with good variety. Had a 12% service fee automatically included, but no complaints there. Server helped with our drinks and even came our to crack our shellfish for us. Super friendly and went above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable!
Overall, great food, vibes, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend. Have to sit out at patio by the canal for the best experience, ideally on a sunny, clear sky day. The Bruschetta and Tomatoes & Mozzarella were great appetizers. Highly recommend the Spaghetti with Clam shells -grrat flavour and gives you Venice vibes. The grilled salmon was also done well and can recommend. The service was top notch.
