We spent 2 nights in Venice and happened across Al Chianti which was found between 2 other small Italian ristorantes. The staff was phenomenal, attentive without being overbearing or aggressive like one of the neighboring establishments. They did not call out to us from the street as the other establishment. The food was amazing, flavorful, great proportions, & absolutely memorable. In fact we told some friends we've made during our travels across Europe about the ristorante and found them settled there eating the following night. In which the host called out to us and said "your friends are here"! He had remembered us chatting with them on the street the previous night. Our Australian friends commented it was the best Spinach ravioli & Arrabbiata pasta they've ever had. We had decided to return again and eat the Arrabbiata pasta we enjoyed the night before and the Spaghetti Carbonara tonight. Both were absolutely delicious! The previous night we also enjoyed the Pizza Capricciosa with tomato, mozzarella, ham & mushrooms cooked to perfection (dough was also legit!). Simple, fresh ingredients, served with a smile and chill attentiveness. Please make sure you visit Al Chianti at Calle Larga San Marco, 655. Not to be confused with the other surrounding ristorantes its sandwiched between. 🍕🍝🍽 Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!
The food was good with variety of selection. Service is satisfactory and kept forgetting and have to be reminded. Atmosphere can be a bit crowded and cramp up but still manageable.
We had such a wonderful dining experience here in Venice. We ordered two pasta dishes, a pizza, three soups, and a selection of red, white, and rosé wine — everything was delicious. The lobster pasta was absolutely amazing, rich and flavorful. The sea bass was incredibly fresh, and we really appreciated the deboning service at the table. The freshly baked pizza was also excellent, and the melon with prosciutto appetizer was refreshing and perfectly balanced. What made the experience even more special was the thoughtful and detailed service. The staff helped guests wear protective bibs/aprons for white clothing, kept the table perfectly clean throughout the meal, and were always happy to explain dishes and share recommendations. Most importantly, every staff member was full of warmth and joy. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and brought such positive energy to the whole evening. Truly one of the most memorable meals of our trip. Highly recommended! ✨🍷🍝🇮🇹
Grabbed lunch here and it was remarkably average overall. We didn’t have anything that really landed. The calamari was decent but didn’t come close to what we had elsewhere in Venice. The black ink spaghetti sounded promising but ended up pretty forgettable. The pizza was the biggest miss though; dough was off and it came out a bit soggy. Overall, not bad, just underwhelming, especially with how many better options are around the city.
Visited Al Chianti in December by chance as we were touring and got carried away, it led us here so we were quite happy. This is a lovely little restaurant with a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s small and cosy, which makes it feel quite special. The staff were very attentive and friendly throughout the meal, which made the whole experience even better. They had some great vegetarian options on the menu, and they were happy they were to adjust a dish slightly to make it vegan. Loved the decor, a charming place with great service. Will definitely visit again.
