Ristorante Rio De La Veste
Venice
Avis
I will start this review by saying that the food and experience here is good, and you will likely enjoy it. That said, a couple of things were a little off with our visit. Firstly, the website paints Rio de la Veste as a more modern, upscale dining venue whereas the venue and food feel much more rustic Venezian. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and they do it quite well so I'm not sure why they wouldn't embrace good qualities like that. Service was good with no complaints at all. As for the food, again it was enjoyable, rustic and authentically Venezian which are all good things. There were a few small points of detail however that dropped things down just a little. Things like some grit in the mussels from not washing properly, squid risotto being half a ladle of stock and 30 - 60 seconds away from perfectly cooked and a chocolate souflee which was actually a chocolate fondant (a pretty decent one). Only small points of detail, but enough to take a bit of shine off of an otherwise good dining experience. The chefs here are obviously good at cooking, if they backed themselves and were a bit more confident in what they cooked, they could really be creating some excellent dishes. Likewise, if the restaurant embraced it's own identity and qualities rather than trying to put on a different image, it would have an even more authentic feel. I would overall recommend coming here, as your experience will still be good. With a few small tweaks though, it could be genuinely great.
We loved this restaurant. Great service, food, atmosphere. Wait staff was genuinely kind. The prawns appetizer was delicious as was the risotto with prawns and asparagus, a large portion which could serve 2. Clams and spaghetti tasty too. Popped in at 11:30 before the crowds which soon followed and became very busy.
Good food overall — the pasta was honestly the best we’d had on this trip so far. Our main course wasn’t quite to our taste, but that was probably just a matter of ordering. The water selection was great, and we were treated to a complimentary limoncello, which was a lovely touch. Most of all, we appreciated the calm atmosphere — a welcome contrast to Venice’s busy tourist pace.
It was incredibly delicious! The most delicious pasta I've ever had in Venice. The portions were huge and there was a lot of seafood. The service was polite and attentive. I've saved this location for myself; I'll definitely be back. Just please don't close!
Amazing experience. We were coming from Barcelona starving and found this place by chance. The staff was super friendly and the service was excellent. The food was outstanding—especially the pasta, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Highly recommended! 🍝👏
